Tips for Cleaning Your Workplace Bathroom
It doesn’t matter if your washroom is for customers or employees, it’s important to provide a clean and sanitary workplace bathroom for everyone to use. Business owners should make this a top priority because an unkempt and unsightly bathroom could be costly to your business or deplete morale amongst your valuable workers.
The commercial cleaning professionals at Star Team Cleaning have put together this handy guide to help you maintain a spotless and sparkling workplace washroom.
Create A Schedule
The easiest way to keep a clean workplace washroom is to make a schedule that you can easily adhere to including daily, weekly and monthly tasks for completion. If you stay on top of cleaning, it’ll take less time to complete in general because you won’t be scrubbing stubborn stains that have had months to set in. Depending on what kind of traffic takes place in your building, including the volume of customers and employees, you may need to increase the number of times various cleaning tasks are scheduled to be done.
Gather Cleaning Supplies
Before you buy any cleaning supplies, make a list of what you need so you don’t miss any items or spend more money than you have to. Your list should include:
- Glass cleaner
- Toilet bowl cleaner
- All-purpose disinfecting spray or wipes
- Cleaning cloths of various colours (keep one colour for sinks and one colour for toilets)
There are many environmentally-friendly bathroom cleaners available these days, but heavy-duty chemicals are sometimes still required.
Clean Toilets and Sinks
For toilets, take your toilet bowl cleaner and pour some into the water in the toilet. Use your toilet brush to vigorously scrub the inside of the bowl, making sure to get under the rim as well. Let the cleaner sit in the bowl for a couple of minutes before flushing. You should never leave the cleaner in the toilet for several hours because it can stain the porcelain. Use your disinfectant spray to wipe down the outside of the toilet, taking care to wipe down the tank and even the fastening bolts that anchor your toilet to the floor.
For sinks, you want everything to shine and look brand new. Use bleach or natural products with acidic properties like lemon and vinegar to get rid of hard water stains, splashes of coffee or even toothpaste. Use products with disinfecting abilities and make sure everything smells good.
Clean Mirrors and Floors
For mirrors, use specialized glass cleaner and cloth made of microfibre. Don’t use any old rag or paper towel because it could scratch your mirror.
For floors, start by doing a good sweeping or vacuuming the area to pick up any dirt, dust or debris that’s collected. When it’s time to mop, use hot water and mild soap. Be careful not to use too much soap as it might leave behind a sticky residue.
